Be Honest, Encourage People (love your people)
Be honest. Tell the truth. Get out of the way of yourself. Tell people what you reckon (kindly). Have the uncomfortable conversation. Avoid half-truths, exaggeration, and omission.
Okay. This is idiotic.
Not really.
How can I be honest all the time and not be taken advantage of?
Sometimes you will be taken advantage of.
Well, I don’t want to be.
Yes. It’s not fun.
So then why should I always be honest?
Because you want to Like Your People.
Right. But really?
Because that’s what you want other people to be with you and you don’t want to be a liar.
Right.
Yes.
Encourage people. Help them by giving them your confidence and support… a small push at the right time, a small deserved recognition, a few inspiring words. Find the excellent and shine a light on it. Find the weakness and help them increase.
What if they don’t want my encouragement?
All enjoys authentic encouragement.
But not all wants their weaknesses pointed out.
But some people want to be better.
Not all.
Focus on those you can help. If you have a innocent relationship, let it get a small uncomfortable occasionally.
We don’t have a innocent relationship.
How could you change that?
“Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he sometimes thinks he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people…”
Albert Einstein
Swiss physicist
