Gary Comer on Your Priority
“Worry about being better; larger will take care of itself.”
–Gary Comer (1929–2006)
American industrialist
founder of Lands’ End
Sales history…
In the commencement (1963), Lands’ End sold sailboat fittings through ads it placed in a sailing magazine called One Design Yachtsman (under the name Lands’ End Yacht Stores). It wasn’t until the second year of business that a catalog was produced.
The misplaced apostrophe in the company name was a mistake in the company’s first printed material. A lack of cash kept it from being changed and it stuck.
In 2002, Sears bought the company for $1.9 billion. Learn more about Comer and how a group of sailors became fantastic sellers and/ or learn how you and your team can get better by eliminating these 16 things our prospects and customers wish we wouldn’t do.
