Sens. Snowe, Landrieu Seek Limits To Consumer Rules
One of the largest sticking points in the financial overhaul bill has been seminal which companies would be covered by a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau within the Federal Reserve. This is a major sticking point for many Republicans and centrist Democrats who have said the bill could go too far and affect scores of other companies besides just banks — including dentists, fishermen and all sorts of other firms.
